Laugh and play a bit. It's good for adults too! •As we march ahead in growth, Eli Moskowitz celebrates his 1-year anniversary as the Executive Director of the CMG project. With the visionary guiding hand of our founder, Laya Jackson and cofounder, Chaya Barth Schechter, Eli and the team have made amazing strides.
•Now that we know exactly where the museum will be built, architectural drawings are in progress. The selected Israeli architectural firm, Knafo Klimor is globally recognized in zero carbon footprint and on-site gray water systems. Knafo’s team is currently working on truly innovative and exciting plans for the museum; more details in the next newsletter. •Eli is also working to identify and cultivate Israeli corporations and institutions in geographical proximity who might be excited to be involved in the creation of this spectacular resource and family fun destination. Those interested in sponsoring an exhibit, an activity, a designated play space…or even a broom closet is encouraged to contact Eli Moskowitz at [email protected], Spread the word! •We’re working to launch an ambitious Capital Campaign in 2023. If you know a professional fundraiser who is passionate about children, education, and building in northern Israel, let us know and we’ll send the job description. Stay tuned while we “Shoot for the Moon.” •Networking is a huge part of every endeavor. If you have friends, relatives or associates who are philanthropic, please introduce us know so we can get to know each other to see if we might be a fit. If you are in a position to increase your gift and partner with us, we need your support! #Education #Childrens museums #Development in Northern Israel #STEAM (Science/ Technology/ Engineering/ Arts/ Mathematics) development in young children. We need your help to turn this vision into a real bricks and mortar facility. •You might remember that we mentioned a big trip to the United States in January for Laya and Eli. Returning from an exhausting and exhilarating itinerary, the two adventurers brought home tales of 6 cities, 5 children’s museum and 4 science museum tour visits as well as reports from important meetings with potential donors, TIES in Cleveland, and with the Jewish Federation of Palm Beach County. (Palm Beach is connected to Israel’s northern development through the sister city relationship between Palm Beach and Tzahar (Tzvat, Hatzor, Rosh Pina.) •If you missed last quarter’s big announcement: The Mevo'ot HaHarmon regional council has allocated 17 dunams of land in Ramat Chorazim for the museum project. (17 dunam equals roughly 4.2 acres or 3 full American-size football fields.) The location is centrally located in the Galilee and is a “stone’s throw” from Tzahar and a slew of small communities throughout the Northern galilee. If you would like to take a peep, please click the link below: https://www.childrensmuseumofthegalilee.org/news/surveying-the-property The joy was absolutely palpable! On the fifth night of Chanukah this year came together to celebrate the holiday of light. It’s our intention to “light up the lives of kids” so what better way than to light a gigantic Chanukah menorah? Behind the scenes we are taking care of every detail that it takes for a big project like building a children’s museum to succeed. High on the list is working with law firms to ensure we are completely compliant with non-profit laws in two countries, wrapping up the contract with our design firm, fundraising, and so much more. Laya Saul Jackson’s son, Jeremiah, had the great idea to have a Chanukah candle lighting on the site where we will build. What a great way to come together. Attending were some of the wonderful people from the Children’s Museum of the Galilee team, Mayor Benny Benmuvhar and staff of Mevo’ot Hahermon, the municipality involved with getting us the land, and other local leaders. Some of our longtime friends joined us, including Dr. Hagay Amir, CEO of the Loewenstein Rehabilitation Hospital, and Lior Salomon, Jewish Agency for Israel representing the Tzahar-Palm Beach Partnership. Also joining were other true believers, supporters, and even some new faces. Everyone enjoyed the stories, inspiration, jelly doughnuts, and glow sticks. We were even graced with a flyover of a flock of cranes as they were heading to the Hula Valley for the winter. We are steadily moving forward laying a foundation of joy and care for children! Thank you for being a part of this glorious project. Photo credits to Efrat Moskowitz!
What an exciting time. We've chosen the site for building the Children's Museum of the Galilee. Today the surveyors came to the property in Ramat Corazim, centrally located in the Gailee Region. Our surveyors, Mamdoh Safadi and Rageb Daboos are from Sabag Engineering. Can you imagine the building here? We have a journey ahead of us and everyday we are taking the steps to move forward toward building our children's museum to enrich the lives of all who enter.
This month we are full STEAM ahead looking at potential locations for the museum with David Knafo, the lead architect for the project.
⛭You can see his work here https://www.kkarc.com/ ⛭You can learn more about his approach, sustainability, and awards here https://www.kkarc.com/about/ Children’s Museum of the Galilee is in the process of negotiating over several strategically located Galilee properties. We should have initial renderings by the end of the year of how our museum will look. We are so excited and can’t wait to share more exciting updates with you all! We are pleased to announce and welcome our new CEO, Eli Moskovitz to the Children's Museum of the Galilee team. Eli comes to us with experience in management in the world of non-profit and education. He's worked with government offices to secure funds and joins our team with great enthusiasm. We look forward to working with Eli as we step forward toward building a place of play and curiosity in Northern Israel to light up the hearts and minds of children. Welcome Eli Moskovitz!
How important is play and connection to a child?
Simple play is so important to a developing baby, toddler, and child. Do you have seven minutes?
The staff, developers, volunteers, and donors all know how important play is and how very important it is that we're bringing play to the Galilee is such a BIG way.
Thank you for showing up to play with us! We have new people joining our board and contributing to our work. Check out our team at the About Us page. Scroll down to see the newest members of the team and the wonderful talents they bring to this project. We love the metaphor of planting seeds. Why? Seeds are in the dark for a while. They may even look like they're falling apart until they sprout and reach for the light. Well, we've been seed planting for a while now. Our seeds are sprouting. A buzz is in the air and people are excited. It's about time we have a children's museum in the Galilee. We're so happy you're here! We look forward to hearing from you and even having you join the team in big ways or small. Big blessings! With gratitude to Joshua Lanzarini from Unsplash for the photo
