New Beginnings at the Children's Museum of the Galilee!
As we stand at the threshold of a new year, we're eager to unveil the promising future that awaits the Children's Museum of the Galilee. During a recent gathering, our design team added the final brushstrokes to our upcoming exhibitions, propelling us into the exciting planning stage!
Picture this: A stunning outdoor exhibition showcasing the beauty of the Golan Heights and Galilee, complete with interactive water wonders and more! Inside, a whimsical village awaits, guiding little minds through the full food cycle and beyond. From sensory exploration to gravity-defying adventures, art and creativity, our museum is shaping up to be a hub of STEAM learning and endless fun!
But our journey took an unexpected turn during lunch after the meeting. A siren wailed, and together, strangers and friends alike calmly made their way to the bomb shelter. It was a moment that showcased the unity and preparedness of our community, a community where every person ensures the safety of those around them.
In that shelter, filled with adults texting teachers to check on their children in school, we realized something profound. Those kids are not just faces in a classroom; they are our future visitors, growing up in a difficult reality of resilience and awareness.
The Children's Museum of the Galilee is being developed as more than just a place of exploration and learning; it will be a sanctuary for healing and growth, a haven of STEAM education housed in physically secure spaces. It transcends its role as a mere educational institution, becoming a sanctuary where little ones can flourish with positive thoughts and feelings.
This is just the beginning, a glimpse of the wonders to come! You can be part of this dream and find reward in your heart by contributing to the health and well-being of children from all backgrounds and religions.

Our hearts are burdened in this time of uncertainty and conflict in Israel. As we grapple with the brutal attacks on innocent families and communities, it becomes increasingly important to find moments of hope and resilience amid the chaos. The approaching holidays of Chanukah and Thanksgiving are a poignant reminder that even in the darkest times, there is a light that can guide us forward.
A month and a half since the war began, the Children's Museum of the Galilee remains a steadfast symbol of hope and optimism. The war has not deterred our commitment to the project; if anything, it has strengthened our resolve to create a future filled with beauty, growth, and joy.
Our Executive Director, Eli Moskovitz is currently serving in the Israel Defense Forces reserves. He reports that, despite the challenges, he is seeing a strong spirit of resolve both among the soldiers and the general population. "It’s as though the entire country is drafted and is part of the army. Am Yisrael Chai!". In these trying times, the need for our museum has become more compelling than ever.
Why the Children's Museum of the Galilee Matters Now:
1. Strategic Location in the North:
Situated in the vulnerable north, the Children's Museum of the Galilee is crucial in a region susceptible to ongoing attacks. The absence of comparable institutions in the area emphasizes the significance of this project as it seeks to fill a void in providing informal experiential education in the entire Galilee/Golan.
2. Healing Through Play:
War has a heartbreaking impact on children. This museum will offer creative and supportive experiences designed to alleviate the burden of trauma. The museum will serve as a play-based, fun, educational, and interactive space for the 415,000 children in our local region alone.
3. Educational Innovation:
Developed in collaboration with renowned Developmental Psychologist Dr. Yael Barak Levy, the museum's approach to education is multi-dimensional, interactive, and engaging. By focusing on exploration and discovery, the experiences offered will help children build communication skills and promote emotional connections.
4. Economic Contribution and Rebuilding:
Beyond its educational impact, the Children's Museum of the Galilee holds the promise of economic contribution to the region. Through job creation, tourism, and various other avenues, the museum is poised to play a vital role in rebuilding northern Israel once the war concludes.
As we navigate through these challenging times, we hope to be in the post-war phase sooner rather than later. The Children's Museum of the Galilee stands ready to be part of the recovery and healing process, offering a space for rebuilding and nurturing the resilience ingrained in our community.

Supporting Kids Through Change:
As parents, grandparents, caregivers, and educators, we can play a vital role in helping children embrace change. Here are some strategies:
Science Behind Change:
Science is the foundation of understanding change. It's not just about what changes but why. Dr. Susan David, a renowned psychologist, suggests, "Science teaches us that change is a natural part of life, and understanding its underlying principles can empower children to embrace it."
Technological Transition:
In a world where technology shapes our daily lives, children are digital pioneers. Technology can both be a bridge and a catalyst for change. As we embark on new beginnings, let's remember the wise words of Steve Jobs: "Innovation distinguishes between a leader and a follower." It's essential to guide our children to be leaders in adapting to technological changes, embracing the future with confidence and curiosity.
Engineering Change:
Change often requires the construction of bridges between the past and the future. Engineers are experts at designing solutions that pave the way for progress. Just as renowned architect Maya Lin once said, "To me, when we're designing or building something, it's an embrace of the future, but it's also an embrace of the past."
The Art of Adaptation:
Change often requires creative solutions. Through the arts, children can express their feelings and ideas about change. Pablo Picasso once said, "Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up."
Mathematics of Transition:
Mathematics helps children make sense of patterns and transitions. As we embrace new beginnings, let's remember what renowned mathematician Albert Einstein said: "Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow. The important thing is not to stop questioning."
Harness the power of S.T.E.A.M. to help children navigate change:
-Science:Explain the science behind changes they may encounter.
-Technology: Use technology to explore and adapt to new situations.
- Engineering:Encourage problem-solving and designing solutions to cope with change.
- Arts:Foster creativity as an outlet for expressing feelings about change.
- Math:Teach children to identify patterns and make predictions about transitions.
As we work toward bringing the Children's Museum of the Galilee to life, we're committed to providing a S.T.E.A.M.-infused environment where children can understand, create, and adapt to change. Our museum will be a place where new beginnings are celebrated through the magic of S.T.E.A.M., and where children can embark on journeys of discovery and innovation.
Change is the essence of growth, and with the power of S.T.E.A.M., we can equip our children to embrace it with curiosity, creativity, and resilience. Together, we'll build a brighter future for the next generation.
This September, let's celebrate the spirit of new beginnings and the resilience of our children. As the Children's Museum of the Galilee takes shape, we are dedicated to supporting families in navigating change and embracing the excitement that comes with new opportunities. Remember, change may be a part of life, but with love, patience, and guidance, our children can thrive in the face of it.
